Juliette Doddrell

Handicap: 30.3

How long have you been at WGC: Two years roughly. I went through Brad’s intro course. I was just another school mum; thought I’d try golf. We all came down and... yeah, I definitely got hooked.

Favourite Hole: The 4th and 10th – for the ability to get onto the green from your tee shot. The 8th has a special place in my heart; that’s where I got my first birdie – on the 8th.

What’s the best golfing tip you’ve been given? I got this epic driver setup from this lady on Instagram. The biggest thing I got out of it was having your head behind the ball on your drive. I have passed that on to a lot of the ladies and everyone is having good success with that one.

What’s your favourite thing about WGC? It’s the best bar in Devonport if you think about it. Sitting up on that deck and looking out on the course, it’s amazing. Also, it’s so easy – I trundle down from home and play with friends that live in the area. I don’t think you can beat it on a beautiful day.

Dogs on the Course

There has been an increased number of people bringing dogs on to the course with members playing.

We have been asked to look at it by a number of members, which we have.

The Golf Committee has decided at this stage to stop short of looking at definitive rules and instead issue some guidelines for members.

1, Dogs on the golf course must be kept on a lead of no longer than 3 metres and the lead must be attached to your golf trundler at all times.

2. Dogs are not to be taken off the leash and be able to run free chasing balls etc on the course.

3. No members dogs are allowed in the clubhouse or the deck during opening hours.

4. If your dog leaves a treat on the course then please pick it up and dispose of it properly.

If members are unable to follow these guidelines then we may be required to go to a more formal set of rules that we would prefer to not have to.

It is the dog owners responsibility to ensure they follow them please.

Course Maintenance & Upkeep

With the recent coring and the good weather the course is really coming back nicely.

Can members please ensure they continue to repair pitchmarks (regardless of the fact the greens have holes in them currently!). They are more noticeable currently so please if your ball hits the green look for where it landed and repair the hole.

If you are unable to get down to repair your pitchmark then get someone in your group to do it for you.

Please ensure you take sand on the course and repair your divots, the club has purchased new buckets please make sure to take 1 with you each round and use it.

It is not acceptable that some members don't leave the course in a better condition than they found it.
